Foreign bank statement and income proof
The fastest-ageing documents in a permit file. Amounts are never converted in translation — the currency printed on the document is the currency that appears in the Turkish text.
In brief
- Document category
- Mali ve ticari
- Apostille
- Depends on the case
- Validity
- Describes a present state; institutions expect very recent documents
Residence permit files, student files and family applications all ask you to show that you can support yourself. Where the money is held or earned abroad, the evidence is a foreign document.
⭐ Obtain them last
Nothing in a document file ages faster. A statement obtained months before an appointment is commonly refused, and it takes its apostille and its translation with it.
Fix the appointment date first, then obtain, apostille, translate and notarise in as tight a run as possible. See how long documents stay valid.
Currency is not converted
⚠ A translation reproduces what the document says. Amounts stay in the currency printed on them, and a translator who converted them into lira would be altering the document rather than translating it.
Where an institution wants a lira equivalent, that is a separate calculation made at the rate and date it specifies — not something written into the translation.
What counts as income evidence
- Bank statements showing regular incoming payments
- An employer letter stating position and salary
- Pension award or payment statements
- Rental or investment income statements
Which of these your procedure accepts, and at what level, is set by the receiving authority. We do not publish a figure, because it changes and a wrong one sends people to collect the wrong documents.
Certification
Apostille in the issuing country, sworn Turkish translation, notarial certification where required. A bank document is often a private document, which in some systems means it must be notarised there before it can be apostilled at all.
Names and account holders
The account name must be reconcilable with your passport. Send the passport page with the statement so the transliteration matches; a mismatch between account holder and applicant is a familiar reason for a query.
Turkish-side income
Income earned in Türkiye is evidenced from Turkish records — payroll, tax and social security documents — and none of it is translated.
Joint accounts and third-party support
Where the money belongs to a spouse or a supporting relative rather than to you, the file has to show both the funds and the relationship. That means two documents from abroad instead of one — and the relationship record is often available as a multilingual extract needing no translation at all.
See multilingual civil status extracts before ordering the second one.
