Apostille handling in Türkiye
For Turkish documents going abroad we can obtain the apostille and arrange the translation as one run. For foreign documents there is nothing to handle here — that step belongs to the issuing country.
In brief
- Certification level
- Apostil
- Estimated time
- Depends on the authority; often completed within days in Ankara
Where a Turkish document is going abroad, it usually needs an apostille from the Turkish authority and then a translation into the receiving country’s language. We handle that sequence as one run.
⚠ What nobody can do here
We cannot obtain an apostille for a document issued by another country, and neither can any office in Türkiye. That step belongs to the country that produced the document.
If you have sent us a foreign document without an apostille, we will tell you before doing any work on it — see why Türkiye cannot apostille a foreign document.
⭐ Why Ankara helps
Administrative documents are apostilled by the governorship and judicial documents by the courthouse commission. In Ankara both, together with the notaries, sit within a short distance of one another in the central district where our office is.
A file that takes several days elsewhere can often be completed here in one, which is why we do this for clients who are not in Ankara at all.
What we need
- The original document, or authority to obtain it
- The receiving country and institution
- The target language
- Confirmation of whether that country also wants the translation certified
The last point matters: some countries require the notarised translation to be apostilled as well, which is a second cycle rather than a detail.
The order
Apostille the original first, then translate — the apostille is part of the document and is rendered with it. Translating first means repeating the work.
Where a country is outside the Convention
Consular legalisation applies instead and the chain is longer, running through foreign ministries and missions — see consular legalisation.
Documents we can obtain for you
Several of the documents that most often need apostilling are obtainable electronically or from an institution that will release them to a representative. Where you are outside Türkiye, that means the whole run — obtain, apostille, translate, courier — can happen without you travelling.
What it needs is authority in the right form. A power of attorney drawn up at a Turkish consulate is valid here directly and names the transactions we are authorised to carry out; ask what wording is needed before the appointment rather than after.
What you receive
The apostilled original, the translation, and a note of which authority certified what and on what date — so that a foreign institution querying any part of it can be answered without reconstructing the file.
