Sworn translation in Türkiye
A translation carrying the translator's statement, stamp and wet signature. It is the base level of certification here — and for some institutions it is all you need.
In brief
- Certification level
- Yeminli tercüman imzası
- Estimated time
- Usually the same or next working day for a short document
A sworn translation is produced by a translator who has taken an oath before a notary and holds an oath record there. The finished document carries a statement that the translation matches the document supplied, the translator’s name and title, a stamp and a wet signature.
⭐ When it is enough
More often than people expect. Work permit legislation accepts a sworn translator’s certification or an official authority’s, so notarisation is not required on every item in that file.
Residence permit files generally expect the notarised level; recognition files certainly do. The answer is not a matter of degree — one question to the receiving institution settles it, and over-certifying does not strengthen a file.
What we need from you
- A flat scan of every page, including reverse sides
- The institution the document is for
- Your passport page, so names are transliterated consistently
- Your deadline, if you have one
The second item matters more than it looks: the same document costs differently depending on which institution asks for it, because the required certification level differs.
What is translated
Everything on the page — the text, stamps, seals, annotations, marginal notes and any apostille already attached. A translation that omits a stamp reads as incomplete, and incomplete is the usual reason a file is returned.
What we do not do
We do not correct, complete or improve a document. Where a passage is illegible, the translation says so rather than guessing. Where a foreign qualification or rank has no exact Turkish counterpart, it is rendered as what it is, because deciding equivalence belongs to the assessing authority.
Confidentiality
Documents are handled under confidentiality undertakings with restricted access and short retention, and they are never sent through free machine translation or artificial intelligence services. Health and judicial records are handled under stricter rules again — see special category data.
Where to go next
The notarised level is described on notarised translation.
What a translation cannot do
It makes a document readable and attributable. It does not make an expired document current, an unapostilled document certified, or an insufficient document sufficient — and where any of those is the real problem, we will say so rather than take the work.

Frequently asked questions
The translated text with the translator’s statement, name, title, stamp and wet signature.
Sometimes. Work permit files often accept it; residence and recognition files generally want notarisation.
Yes, along with seals, marginal notes and any apostille attached.
No. The translation records what the document shows, including that a passage is illegible.
Under confidentiality undertakings, with restricted access, and never through free machine translation services.
Not if the document is expired, unapostilled or the wrong one. We will say so rather than take the work.
