Population registry extract (nüfus kayıt örneği)
The document that shows what Turkish records actually say about you: marital status, parentage, children and recorded events. Foreign authorities usually want this rather than any certificate you already hold.

- Shows the register as at the date of issue; recent extracts are expected
An extract from the Turkish civil registry, showing what the register records about a person: identity details, parentage, marital status, children, and the events entered over time.
⭐ It is the register, not a certificate
This is why foreign authorities ask for it. A marriage booklet or a birth certificate records one event; the extract shows the current state of the record including everything entered since.
A marriage that ended, a divorce recorded later, a child added — all of it appears here and nowhere else. Inside Türkiye it is read as issued and never translated.
Which version to request
Registry offices issue more than one form. A plain extract shows current details; a fuller one shows recorded events as well. Some purposes need parentage in the chain, others do not.
⚠ Describe what the document must prove rather than naming a form. Asking for the wrong version means going back, and the difference is not obvious from the names.
The multilingual option
Civil status extracts can be issued on the standard international multilingual form. Where the receiving country accepts it, neither translation nor apostille is required — see multilingual civil status extracts.
Note that a multilingual form covers a specific event; where you need the whole register picture, the fuller domestic extract is what you want, and that one does need the ordinary chain.
The outward chain
Apostille from the provincial governorate or district authority, then translation into the receiving country’s language. Everything on the extract is rendered, including event annotations and the register particulars.
Freshness
An extract shows the register as at the date of issue, so receiving authorities expect a recent one. Obtain it close to submission rather than keeping a copy in reserve.
Obtaining it
It is available electronically as well as at a population directorate. Whether an electronic printout is accepted abroad is a separate question — see e-Devlet documents and QR verification.
Someone else’s extract
Registry offices restrict who may obtain an extract about another person. In inheritance and family procedures this comes up constantly, and the answer usually turns on the relationship and on the purpose.
Where a representative is obtaining documents for you, the power of attorney should name that expressly. See power of attorney issued abroad for how to get the wording right the first time.
Frequently asked questions

No. It is a Turkish document read as issued.
Recent. It shows the register as at its issue date.
Registry offices restrict this. A representative acting for you needs a power of attorney naming it expressly.
