Consular legalisation
For countries outside the Hague Convention, a single certificate becomes a chain of three or four sequential steps. We manage the Turkish end of it and tell you honestly what we cannot control.
In brief
- Certification level
- Dışişleri tasdiki + Konsolosluk tasdiki
- Estimated time
- Weeks; each institution sets its own pace
Where a country is not party to the Hague Convention, the apostille is unavailable and the older chain of confirmations applies. This is the slowest route in document work and the one most often underestimated.
The chain
Outbound from Türkiye: the Turkish document is certified internally, then legalised by that country’s mission here, then translated as it requires.
Inbound: the document is certified in its own country, then legalised by the Turkish mission there, then translated here with notarial certification as required.
⚠ What we can and cannot control
We can prepare the documents correctly, present them in the right order, arrange the translations and track where the file is.
We cannot speed up an appointment system, a ministry queue or a mission’s own timetable. Anyone promising a fixed turnaround for this route is promising something outside their control, and we will not.
⭐ Ask about the mission first
Missions publish their own procedures and they differ — over appointments, over which documents they will handle, and occasionally over whether a translation forms part of their own step.
The procedure that governs your file is that mission’s, not a general description on any website. We ask that question at the outset rather than assuming.
Perishable documents
A certificate that was current when it entered the chain can be stale by the time it emerges. We plan the sequence so that short-lived documents enter as late as it allows, and where one cannot survive the run we say so before starting.
What we need
The receiving country and institution, the document itself or authority to obtain it, and any deadline you are working to. If the deadline is not achievable through this chain, you will hear that at the quotation stage rather than afterwards.
Where the shorter route applies
Where both countries are party to the Convention, one certificate replaces all of this — see apostille handling and documents from non-Hague countries.
